I have got my IELTS results as below
Listening Reading Writing Speaking Overall
7.0 8.0 5.5 6.5 7.0
I am planning to apply for PR under CEC (NOC Type A - 2174)
Somebody, please let me know if the above score is good to go...
For a NOC A job, you need at least 6 for each ability, so unfortunately your writing is not good enough.
:'( Yes, this time CIC declared "You must meet the minimum level of CLB 7 for your first official language in all four language areas." which is Ielts 6.
No problem this usually happens sit again after improving in particular section. Maximum times a person find increased level than previous test results.
Hey :
You have very good score in Listening , Reaing and Speaking as well. I would suggest you to re-appear for IELTS general Examination and try your luck after studying for the same.
Thanks everyone.. Somewhere on old blogs, I read that combination of higher (7+) and slightly lower scores (by .5) is also accepted. That's why I was thinking if there are some options for me looking at current scores
However, it looks like 6 is must.. So, I will reappear soon..
Thanks again!

If you had looked at the cic site. You would have found the answer to your questions right away..
Sometimes for simple situations like this .. a little look at the site will quickly give you an answer ....
Here it is: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/language-testing.asp

Do not ever rely on information on "blogs", etc. as anything more than a hint. Conclusive answers are on CIC's website.
Also, study and practice for your writing. Grammar mistakes and misspelling are of course bad but there's more to writing than that.
