Need guidance

Hello everyone,

I am currently in Canada on my study visa for 1 year. I got to know from few people around me that it is okay if i don't pursue a second year course to get a 3year work permit because i hold an experience back in my home country which was of 4 years and the employers usually help you to obtain the work permit. Need guidance whether i should pursue a second course or i can directly apply for a work permit.

It's your choice. It's much more risky not to have a 3 year PGWP. With only a 1 year PGWP, there's no guarantee you will get 1 year of Canadian work experience in a skilled profession to get more points and also to qualify under CEC.

I do not agree that employers usually help you to obtain a work permit. Most employers are not willing to go through the LMIA process. There is no guarantee you would be able to stay in Canada after a 1 year PGWP expires.

Again, ultimaely your choice. If PR is a high priority for you,go for the second program so that you can get a 3 year PGWP.
