Hi,

I received my ITA last year and as part of the requirements, i submitted my present employer reference letter. Now the catch here is the letter issued by my employer states it is issued for further studies. I was apprehensive of informing the HR about my PR plan as it may ruin my current work prospects...

So does CIC officer call and check with employer as Service letter was not specifically issued for PR purposes? If they do call, can the HR refuse to give details about my employment as technically they have not authorized to be contacted for it which may jeopardize my PR application.

Is it possible for the HR to refuse acknowledging my employment even if all contents in the letter are true?

Await your comments.

Thanks.

This is not a problem if you include a note explaining you had the reference addressed this way so as not to affect your current employment

So does CIC officer call and check with employer as Service letter was not specifically issued for PR purposes? For any number of reasons, CIC/VOs sometimes verify employment information through phone calls or physical visits If they do call, can the HR refuse to give details about my employment as technically they have not authorized to be contacted for it which may jeopardize my PR application. Most HR will not refuse to verify your employment details if the request is from a reputable establishment like an embassy/High Commission. I don't know of any company that has a policy not to verify their employees details on request. That is exactly the point of a reference, to confirm employee's details

Is it possible for the HR to refuse acknowledging my employment even if all contents in the letter are true? That is entirely up to your HR and what your company's policy on reference verification is. You are the person who can answer this question about your company maybe by asking your HR

Hi, see above.

Even I am facing the same issue.. It is true that it is upto company's HR policy to verify your details or not but risk is always there of your current company to become aware about your application of applying for immigration to CANADA and same can jeopardize your current job. I want to know if anyone has gone through such incident where CIC people actually called or contacted current company?

Reference letter must be written by director of the company OR it can be co-owner or an accountant for example?

it can be written by manager also... you need to have their contact details on the letterhead

i dont know if accountant is acceptable, co-owner shouldnt be a problem

As per CIC, reference letter can be either written by your supervisor/reporting manager or someone from HR department..

oh , good to know

technically owner is good enough, he owns the company :) , but accountant i'm assuming is a no...

Dear All
is there any disadvantage if my NOC falls under B category..though the employer is multinational bank who has also country branch at Canada..

Hey Folks,

Thanks for replying to my query. I got my ROPR letter last week ;D and have to submit my passport soon.

So can safely say that either the HR team complied by providing the requested details ::) or the verification for current employer didn't happen. Even if it does happen now, not worried much as soon enough I will inform my employer about my PR. ;)

Thanks again and good luck...

@Willow_NS Any chance you could share the format of your employers reference letter?
I do not want to let my current employers HR know that Im applying for a PR. Can i use tourist visa to Canada as a reason?
