Hey Folks,

For background: I am applying for permanent residency in Canada from outside Canada, and my wife is my sponsor (we are doing the family class spousal visa).

I have some quick questions I would like to get some clarity on, just so I don't make any silly mistakes:

1. On the 'Generic Application Form For Canada' where it says 'dependents', should I list my wife (also my sponsor) as a dependent of mine? I am unsure and can't find any clarity online. As I say, she is my sponsor, and has been a citizen of Canada from birth.

2. Are there any examples on this forum of what is 'proof that we will relocate' following the visa being granted? Any examples hugely helpful.

3. Are there any examples of what my sponsor (my wife) should provide for 'source of income' under the 'supporting documents' section? I currently earn our income (and a healthy salary for both of us to live here in London). We have savings, so would that clarify of proof of funds?

Thank you very much in advance for any help, again, it's hugely appreciated.

- Ted

1. Your wife, as your sponsor, is not your dependent.

2. Search for "proof of intention to return to Canada" on the forums. There are dozens of threads of examples.

3. Explanation of your income and your savings is what you'll have to use. If she will be working in Canada, evidence of job search. Evidence of your job search, etc. if you are planning on working in Canada.

Thanks very much for the response.

Just to be doubly sure, would anyone else be able to confirm the above for me?

Thanks again!

If you want confirmation each time someone replies here, you are likely better off hiring a lawyer to help you through the process.

Above answers are correct.

Thanks Scylla, that's all I needed.

Much appreciated everyone!
