I'm thinking of applying permanent residency to Canada for my brother. He is residing in India and i'm in the US.
Here is his background:
he has his bachelors degree and has worked in the merchant navy for 7 years.
Would he be eligible for PR? or any other temporary visas to canada work better?
You should do a bit of research. He could be eligible if he has had at last one year of experience in a list of 38 jobs created by CIC. I don't know what he did for merchant navy but probably not on the list.
He could look for a job and he could apply for PR based on that.
He could also go study there and then apply.
He could try for PR through Quebec, but one needs French generally for that.
He could try for provincial nomination but most of those need a job.
Attorneys are good if you think you will make a mistake in the forms or if you have a special case but for most, they are not necessary. Of course, a good attorney also knows the process well.
I know of a good law firm , they are a bit costly - they charge 3500 $

If the cost is reasonable for you guys you cna contact this firm - its called Greenberg Turner (based in Toronto)
