Here is my situation
I am Canadian citizen. I got married in 2008 and got divorced in 2012.
My x-spouse got PR on October 2009, so five years ban has been fulfilled.
Now I got married again last week in India.
I want to sponsor my 2nd spouse to Canada.
Just need some advice regarding story writing.
I met one immigration agents in India, and he told me the document requiment for sponsorship, and he told me that me and my new spouse has to write 10-12 pages of story, describing from beginning of our life, still we met and all the incident, need to be described in story. When we met first time, which places we have gone through,
I wrote my whole life with my wife.
On form imm5490, it's needed to do.
I filled lots of question on a separate sheet of paper and it took about 9 pages.
Hope it helps ^^
Yes absolutely, you need to write the essay. You as sponsor need to write the essay describing your relationship. The applicant may not need to write the "essay" but there are several long answer questions that need to be answered in the application anyway, so that's like an essay.

I did not write 10-12 pages... I think it was less,
but I submitted a lot of pictures with captions, that helped me to
tell the story about places we went together, etc. etc.
I included a lot of pictures, all with captions.
But absolutely, the essay is important.... about the 10-12 pages...
I guess there is no standard about that.
The 5 year sponsorship ban applies to a person who was SPONSORED by their spouse.
Most people will expound a bit on the "relationship development" question on IMM5490 but there is definitely no need to write an essay. There is little chance that a VO would even actually sit there and read 10 pages, so aim to keep it short and sweet.
