Hi All,
I am on open work permit in Canada and need to work for a US employer. They do not have any thing in Canada, only US based.
they want to pay me as an independent contractor.
Am I eligible for this on open work permit?
if yes, do I need to register any business name or can I work just under name?
Do I need to apply for GST number if yes am I eligible to apply? The total amount will be more than $30k per year.

Kindly advise.
