Hello,
Sorry if this is a repeated question and I do not have H1b, I just wanted to know if any one had any recent experience.
I am on a day 1 CPT program, course - MS in project management (my previous course was, MS in CS). My visa expired on July 2022 and my i-20 is valid. I am not very sure about my i-94.
My CoPR expires on March 2nd, 2023. I still have to wrap up a few things here and want to finish my course here.
I would like to get my PR validated before it expires and return to the US using AVR.
I wanted to know if anyone had done this recently and could share their experience or pointers.
Thank you.

If your H1-B was approved and you have received your i797-A approval then you are no longer on F1. Your change of status was approved from F1 to H1. You can travel back to USA from Canada with an expired F1 visa stamp and an approved I797-A document which has i94 validity. I had done this earlier.

Thank you for your response, i really appreciate it. I made a mistake, i do not have a H1b. I noticed it only after your response, sorry about that. I have updated my original post now.

Seems like people have done this successfully. I think you should be good.

You can return back to US with your expired visa and an active Travel i20. There won't be any issues at the border. Just let them know you did your soft landing and are going back to Univ to finish your coursework. Good luck.

hello,
did you end up traveling? could you please share your experience?
Thanks.
No, not yet. I am planning on doing it either this week or the next. But I don't think I am going to pack everything before I leave. I spoke to US custom officer over the phone. He told me to inform the officer at the booth, on entering US, that I need to process the AVR. He will guide me inside and the officers inside will process the validation, it seems.
I am yet to talk to Canadian border service regarding my car.
I will definitely share any progress or pointers here.
Thanks.

Hi Rohit,
Is this applicable if a person previously on H4 (expired stamping) and H1B approved with i797A as well? I am not sure if only F1 visa is valid for AVR?
