In a generic application form.. For National Identity Document(NID)... Can we use Passport as our NID or it must be other than passport?

It depends on your nationality. Some countries do not use/have National ID - so you leave it blank.

I had filled passport in my form..and it was correct.my status has changed to decision made andgot pp req mail

VO does not check National ID as the basis of their decision.
But obviously PASSPORT is NOT NATIONAL ID.
Wherever, However you look at it NATIONAL ID is different from your passport.
Check the site above so you will see the definition of a National ID.
Leave it blank if your country does not have a NID. (There's a different place in the application for your passport information).
