Hello to all
On filing Canadian immigration Generic Application Form for Canada (IMM 0008) National Identity Document section, I am a resident in a country other than my country of nationality, can I use my country of residence ID instead of my country of nationality ID since it expired and I can't renew it remotely.
P.S: I have provided my valid Passport, and my country of residency ID has all the Personal Information (Date of Birth, full name, sex)

What you are describing is not a national ID. National ID is issued by a country to all of its citizens. It is a unique number for every individual and does not expire. So whatever ID number you got from your country of residence is not a national ID number. Not every country has a national ID. So if you don't have it, no need to write it.
hi. follow up question. i am a worker here in south korea and i have a alien registration card and this card is always used for any transactions here private and government. So you mean, this does not qualify for a national id? My card has an expiration as per my work contract so i need to renew this every year.

i have national number that is unique but my national id is expired, on the other hand if the national id doesn't expired why the ask you to provide date of issue and date of expiration in imm0008, is there any problem using my country of residency ID

What I am saying is, national ID is named "national ID." It is not a driver's license or any other type of ID cards issued for other purposes. It would only be issued to citizens of a country by the country issuing it. If the country you are residing in is not your country of citizenship, then you most likely DONOT have a national ID issued to you by them. Since most countries DONOT have national IDs, this is not a required information. You can simply answer NO to this question and move on. No need to feel like you must put something there.
My national Identity has no expire date. If I leave it blank then the bar-code will not appear. After appearing the bar-code it is showing that I can change the information. Is it okay to delete the information after having bar-code?
