Hello! I received my PR status last Monday. However, IRCC puts my first name and last name together in my Copy of Permanent Residence because of my passport.
For example, in my passport: Smith Jane Doe
In actuality, "Smith" is my last name and "Jane Doe" is my first name.
Consequently, my new SIN has my last name and first name together. I am afraid that this will be the case for all my official documents issued by the Canadian government this point forward.
I have been in Canada for more than 10 years (as a student) and I have been using my given name separate from my last name in all my documents (official and non-official).
I am afraid that this misunderstanding will give me (legal) issues in the future.
Therefore, I would like to have my first name separated from my last name in all my Government of Canada identifications.
How do I go about correcting this issue?
Furthermore, I am waiting for my PR card (2-3 months)...
Do I wait for my PR card with the incorrect name to arrive and then correct it, or do I initiate the process before I receive my PR card?
Thank you.
