what is the procedure after citizenship or can we do it during citizenship?
On my Indian passport name is
Given name : Cheire Kaur
Family name : Blank
On canadian documents :
FIrst name: blank
Family name : Cheire Kaur
i want to correct it and add my last name
First name : Cheire Kaur
Last name: Gill
How can i do it after citizenship, i am hoping to become a canadian citizen by September
I live in Alberta but right after citizenship to Ontario
Do i have to be an Ontario resident to change my name?

Guys, in same boat.. whether anyone found the process.. my citizenship is in final stages (took the test). Can I apply for ontario legal name change now.. so, when my citizenship process is complete, I can apply for Canadian passport with new name. I will change the name in Citizenship certificate after.. is it allowed and legal? please advise.

the name on your passport application has to be the same as that on your citizenship certificate, meaning you must change legal name, change name on citizenship certificate, and then apply for passport with new name
As citizenship is the longest part of the process, I'd suggest changing name either before applying for citizenship, or after getting the citizenship certificate.
Most important: if you change name after getting citizenship, apply for the Canadian passport under new name (presenting legal change of name documents) BEFORE applying for a new citizenship certificate - because you have to send the citizenship certificate and that can take a year or more to get new one.
In fact, you don't really need to ever change the citizenship certificate, once you have the passport, you'll hardly ever have to show the citizenship certificate again (and in those cases the citizenship cert with name change is perfectly fine, anyway).
