Hello Everyone, I am planning to move to Canada through the express entry immigration program. My son who is 3 years old and blind from birth. before go to the application process I want to know am I eligible for immigration? I saw that last year Canada govt relax the immigration process for the disabled child. Does anyone have any information about this? Thanks in advance.
Yes. The disease's name is Leber Congenital amaurosis. Retinitis pigmentosa. We are hardly trying to find a solution with gene therapy. 2 months later we will do gene therapy test which gene is responsible for it. thank you

Very hard to say. Depends whether specialized schooling is involved. Because it is also a genetic condition cost of treatment may be involved versus blindness not associated with disease. Nobody on this forum will be able to tell you whether you will be accepted or not. You should also look into whether you will need to pay for private education. I know that many public schools for the blind have closed and public schools don’t often have the budget to provide an aide to every student with special needs. You may have to factor in the cost of a private education. Many specialized equipment may not be paid for so would only recommend immigrating if you can find a job with extended health benefits. There still will likely be additional costs that you will have to cover as a family.

Would also look into the costs since you could be looking at up to 25k/year for private education. Private education is not in many Canadian’s budget. You would need a dual income family and good jobs.
