Hi, so I am currently ending my second year of uni in Canada. And for some reasons, I have to renew my study permit.

So the situation is, as my second year started, my dad came into canada with me and he was able to get a work permit, independent of my study permit. And I think I heard somewhere that the dependents of a person with work permit can get a study permit from that.

Is this true? If so, can I get that study permit instead of extending my current study permit? Would that new study permit only last as long as my dad's work permit?

My passport expires in a few years, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks!

There is no reason to get your study permit based on your fathers work permit you already have a permit just extend it no need to overcomplicate
