I have a 35 year college teaching career in classical music training (cello), and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree. I have also worked with high school and middle school students, as well as an extensive performing career. I would be happy to work at any level in British Columbia, and would appreciate any information or leads.

Canada generally has more teachers than jobs available. College and university jobs are generally quite competitive.

Teaching at the high school and middle school level requires a specific educational background and the completion of a certification process.

Getting a work permit in the teaching field is generally very difficult since it usually requires an employer to obtain an approved LMIA and prove no Canadian could be found for the role.

Best option is usually to first focus on qualifying and applying to immigrate to become a permanent resident through a program like Express Entry. Alternatively because of the field you are in, you can also look into the Self Employed immigration program.
