Hello friends,

I am a student with a US J-1 visa. At the same time I have a Canadian multiple entry visitor visa for a duration of 14 months, which expires on February 2013. I have already visited Canada a few times from US. My US visa requires me to re-enter US before reaching 30 days of stay in Canada. So the last few times that I visited Canada, I made sure to return to US before it was 30 days. Last week while entering Canada, the Canadian officer asked me how long I would stay in Canada. I told her that it will be less than 30 days. So she tamped my passport and wrote (V-expires July 10, 2012).

My question is:

Does that V means visit or visa? I think if by that she means that I should not stay beyond July 10 for this visit, then I can leave Canada for US before July 10 and re-visit Canada on a later date since I have a Multiple Entry visitor visa. But if by that she means the Visa expires on July 10, then would I be allowed to re-enter Canada? In the visa the original printed expiry date is February 2013.

It means you were admitted as a visitor until 10/07/12. You have to leave by then or apply for an extension. It has no effect on later admissions.
