My boyfriend's elderly parents moved here from Europe back in May 2019 and have extended their visa twice. Their intention is to live here but he cannot afford to sponsor and support them. The second extension has not been approved or rejected yet, but the plan is to keep extending. What are the chances that a third extension would be approved? Will they face any repercussions for trying to live here on a visitor visa?
Once the visa officer sees that they're trying to live in Canada, their extension application will be refused and they will be told to leave Canada. This may happen after one extension, it may take a couple more. But they cannot intend to live in Canada as visitors.
Agree they need to maintain a home abroad. At a certain point the extension will be denied. Also they could be denied entry if CBSA has concerns they’ve been spending too much time in Canada. What will you do if they get sick? Once stabilized they will be expected to leave unless you have enough money to pay for continued treatment. Medical insurance only covers emergencies. The bills can get extremely high. This is not a realistic plan.
