mpnp field job or not

hi frnds i got one year post grad work permit , so i just wanna confirm under mpnp field job is compulsory or we can do work in any field for six months and after that apply for the mpnp as i have limited work permit so what should i have to do .I did btech in electronics and comm from india and did pg diploma in wireless telecomm from toronto
