I am in the process of sponsoring my Filipina wife. All our documents are ready, but I noticed an inconsistency on her town of birth on our marriage contract, with the info she gave me to put in other forms. Rather than listing the city where she was born, it lists the suburban town where she and her mother lives (that is close and part of the same process). She seems to have given that information to the town hall where we got married and never noticed her mistake up to now.
I just received extremely bad news from her, she told me that in order to receive a corrected marriage contract, we might have to wait up to four months.
Does it mean we need to hold on submitting our application for all this time? Would the government deny us otherwise? Is there anything else we can do?
if everything is ready beside marriage certificate, you can submit your application with a letter that explained the situation and tell that you would send the marriage certificate later.
Even if you apply now, CIC would not start to process your file anytime soon and would request more supporting docs months later.
I would try submitting the application with the marriage certificate you have now (or a copy of it) and a letter explaining the situation, that you have ordered a new one, and will send it to be added to the file later.
