I have a study permit in Canada. On July 17, 2018, my 5 years old child came to Canada as a visitor. After she entered into Canada, she went to kindergarten without applying for study permit because I have a valid status in Canada. However, I never realized that I have to extend her visitor record. She should stay in Canada no more than 6 months but she has overstayed for almost one year. What should I do? I know she have to leave Canada as soon as possible but no one can take care of her when she back to my own country. I want to go to the board and explain the truth to the immigration officers. Hope they can restore my child's status. Do anyone have the same situation and have success in restoring child's status? Hope someone can help me.

Hi sylla,
I really appreciate your helping. Going to the border is my consideration. I also consider to restore her status online but long-time waiting for respond is tortured to me.

It's too late to restore her status online. You can only restore her status online within 90 days of her status expiring. Again, only option is to leave Canada.

Yes, you can do this at a land border, not at the airport. Take along all your documents (study permit, admission letter, etc), and explain that it was an error on your part. It shouldn't be too much of an issue getting her readmitted. Ask for a visitor record that matches the length of your study permit.
