I've got admission in Master of Engineering Management in MUN for fall 2012.
Jibz congrats how long did it take you to secure the admission have been on the application process for admissions into MENGR in mechanical engineering for close to four months and my application status still reads application process has begun.
Send and e-mail to KIM HEARN (klewis@mun.ca) and tell her to give you an update on your application. I have posted the contact link I got from the university website.
mine is a long story. It took me almost 15 months to secure admission in MUN since in the 1st 12 months they were facing difficulty in matching my name to that in my docus. ;D
if you have applied to mechanical eng. program than i would suggest to give regular follow ups. Also, if you are not satisfied with their response then call them straight away or speak to them on munlive. And yes, if u r looking at a research based program and NO professor has contacted u yet, then i think u should look for a complete overhaul for ur application.
btw its a_a_d to be thanked
@ a_a_d
planing to dispatch the visa application to Abu Dhabi in 2 days. If everything goes ok (inshAllah) then hope to see u soon
I'm afraid I can't give much comments on ur profile. But I would suggest to go ahead and apply IF you qualify the minimum requirements mentioned on the web of MUN.
MUN is not a top tier university, so candidates those are just above average or even average can expect positive feedback.
Do check the deadline for application. In my case the deadline was Nov 1 for the session starting Fall (September) the next year. Also, I would advise you to apply in more than 1 course i.e. Civil & Management - as you were previously thinking. With this you'll have choices by the time the decision matures.
@ banks
keep following up, do keep the direct number of Andrew Kim with you. In my case they were not even responding to my inquiries the 1st year since they couldn't match my documents to my application. this is how the 1st deadline passed and the next year, due to several telephone calls of mine, they considered it.
I did not take any GRE or TOEFL. I had given IELTS - but that's just an english language proof and not a first degree proof. For first degree proof you need to arrange the delivery of notarized copies of your degree and your transcripts (mark sheets) directly from the degree awarding university (i.e. in the sealed envelopes of the university) In my case it was UET, Lahore and they already have a paid procedure for all this. BTW some Canadian Universities wave the english language proof requirement for UET, Lahore (and for some more universities') graduates. like University of Alberta
