Hi there
The following is my background:
Msc. Electrical Engineering from RIT,NY,USA GPA: 3.00/4
Bsc. Electrical and Electronics Engineering from AIUB, Dhaka, Bangladesh GPA 3.43/4
IELTS overall 7.0 with no less than 7.0
I am applying for the MENG course based program in University of Calgary and University of Regina for fall 2014. Do I need to get hold of any supervisor to these courses before I apply? And what are the chances of getting admission? It would be great if the seniors and experienced can help me out with this.
Thanks

You have good academics and your chances are very good to get admission. You don't need to get hold of any supervisor for Meng course based programs in Canada you require that for MS programs. But I am confused you have already done MS in Electrical Engineering so shouldn't you apply for Phd?

Brother, the issue is I don't have any kind of publication for the research I did during my graduate studies. My motive now is to go for a postgraduate degree in canada the easiest way I can. And this is possible through MENG course based program where there is no hassle about contacting the professors. Later if I get the feel that I can do extensive research, I will try to convert it to MS research based and then on to PHD

Oh i see. I edited my last reply hope you saw that you don't require any supervisor for MEng course based program you only require them for MS programs in Canada. I have applied for MEng in Canada. Can you share with me how can a MEng program be converted to MS. Would be good to know.
I was going through ECE department website of some university ( don't actually remember which one it is). It seems there is a chance to convert the MENG program to Msc. later during the course if you get suitable professor who is willing to supervise your research and fund you as well. Which program did you apply for?
Good to know. I have got admission in Concordia University for MEng (Electrical and Computer Engineering) program and have applied for my visa on basis of that. I have also applied in Memorial University and will apply in Regina for fall admissions.
That's wonderful. Congrats on that. Can you please share the full tuition fees that you have to pay in concordia?
Thanks

Tuition fees for 2 years is around 26000/= CAN$ in Concordia Univ.
Hi guys,
I think maybe contacting a potential supervisor would help increase the chances of admission. I'm applying for Sep 14, McGill, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Masters (thesis). The waiting game is giving me sleep problems. 8) Anyway, my potential supervisor requested for an interview via Skype this week. I hope to make a good impression.

Getting hold of a potential supervisor is an issue for me. It takes time and most of the supervisors don't reply or take time to reply. That is why I am applying for the course based MENG as of now. Later will differ it to Msc. thesis once am on with the program if possible.

That's true. I emailed two supervisors as well and only one replied. I think that if you're hoping to get funded then it might be a good idea to keep trying sending emails to potential supervisors until one replies. But good luck man! I wish us the best!
