I am just wondering if it is possible to get medicals without ever receiving the 2nd AOR (the one from the visa office). I did receive the 1st AOR from Sydney.

no it is not possible, 2nd AOR must be issued, it is another thing if it was not delivered to applicant. to avoid this thing always check your online status.

Basiclly AOR is the confirmation that your application or documents were received. now if visa office sent you one and its lost n you have not received it, visa office is still processing your file and will send you medical request or other communication. you might not be able to check you online status as in most cases, first AOR B... no stops working and you need visa office B... no to check further processing. BUT IT IS POSSIBLE. Seniors to comment plz

As per process it is important to issue AOR as its an acknowledgement and always check the status online to know the processing or send a case specific inquiry to know the status if not able to see status online.
