I have a question: Does CIC ALWAYS ask for a medical exam?
I'm an inland applicant and have spent the last 4.5 years in the US and UK. My citizenship is Pakistani though.
I went to a boarding school in BC so I did get my medicals done from Pakistan way back in 2007. Should I do an upfront exam or wait for them to ask me later? Also, how much does it usually cost? I do have a travel health insurance plan which I bought just in case.

You can wait for the medical later after the Stage 1 is being approved, but you can always do it upfront anytime you want after you sent your application. You need to know your file number and uci number so they can match it up in your file.
I think it will cost you around 350-400$(travel insurance will not reimburse it)...I didn't submit my upfront medical since it is only good for 1 year, I might do it in few months time before CIC will ask for it...Goodluck!

We paid $187.97 for the medical , xray, blood test . Now my step son has to have his done in the U.k. and it is costing us over 300.00 pounds. Which is about $500.00 here. So check around and ask for prices.
Yes, it's a mandatory requirement for all PR applicants. Medicals are only valid for 1 year from when you take it, so for this reason many inland applicants wait until CIC asks them to take it, so they don't need to re-take it later on since the inland process can 16 months or so.

Price is totally dependent on the location you take it.
Also travel health insurance is usually only for emergency/unexpected medical situations, so they most likely will not cover any of your immigration medical cost.
when you do an upfront medical what do you need to give them as far as a number ? the only thing i have is the client number from my visitor permit. thanks i go to get my medical on the 21st of april. by the way how is everyones experience with the medical? is it just no big deal? i hate going to doctors : thanks so much
We did an outland medical here in Ontario. We just took passport and another piece of id and cash .We didn't have any number to give .The medical was quick and very simple .For us all the medical was done in the same building ...
