Hello, I have a quick question about medicals and criminal records. My husband had his medical done the week before we sent our application. We sent the receipt & his criminal record with our application. I am wondering if they expire during processing time, do we have to send new ones to the visa office? Or will the request them if they want them, they only started processing his half of our application April 3rd, 2016. But all of our documents were sent out in late December 2015. We just want to know ahead of time if this is necessary.
The medical expire after one year. If your application takes too long, CIC will send you a notice to do it again, but usually only after your application has passed the eligibility stage.
For my wife's case, her medical expired a couple of months before she even got notice for an interview, but once the interview passed they asked her to do again.
As for police check, that I am not too sure, but my wife's was a little more than a year I think and they did not ask for another.
The police checks can expire before you send them in, in which case you should get new ones. But if they become outdated after CIC has received them, they do not consider them to have 'expired'. It would be unlikely that they would ask you to get new ones.
For the medical, it expires one year after it is done. However, sometimes the visa office extends the limit if processing is close to being finished. Just wait until the visa office asks for a new one.
