just a question. I've been looking around to find the answer, but I didn't so far, that's why I ask the question.
When my wife went for medical exam, they gave her IMM 1017. As I understand, this is just a proof that she went
for the medical exam but not a proof that results are ok.
At what time we will know if the results are ok for her to come in Canada ?
If we get Sponsor approval does that mean that everything is ok with medical exam or we have to wait until our application is shipped to the
office visa for them to check that ?
Not that I have concerns, just that I want to understand how this works.

They way it works really, is that the Dr. just collects the data. They don't make the call regarding whether someone passes or not. Once the data is collected, the information goes to CIC and someone from there will analyze the data and make a decision on it. You won't hear anything more about the report from the Dr. UNLESS there is something seriously wrong with your health!
So, to sum up technically yes, you will not know if the medical has been passed until your wife's application is complete.
Don't fret though! It would take a VERY serious medical condition (such as TB) to make you wife inadmissible. In general, for a spousal visa the conditions for health are not too strict.
From my medical, my doctor mentioned that I had bad teeth and waxy ears
I thought it would be funny if they were to deny me my visa for that. "WE HAVE ENOUGH EAR WAX IN CANADA! GET LOST!".
Even if you ended up having something like TB, since this is a spousal sponsorship, TB wouldn't make you inadmissible. You would simply require treatment and once the TB was gone or under good control, they would grant you the PR and allow you to land. Also, if there is something seriously wrong, generally it seems the doctors themselves will order another test, or ask you to begin treatment. They're not going to have you sitting there for months and months when they know there's something wrong/dangerous like TB or anything else.
