Hello everybody,

I'm really confused about when to get my medical examination.

I'm immigrating to Quebec from the Netherlands, with my boyfriend as my sponsor (who lives in Montreal) I've planned a 1 month trip to Montreal this july, and when I get back I'm going to send all the forms to the CIC and start the immigration process.
Now I've also planned to get my medical examination in Montreal in july. This because I've read that it's a lot cheaper in Canada compaired to the Netherlands, and that the immigration process takes a lot shorter with an up-front medical exam.

But now I'm a bit confused after reading other things. Can I get my medical examination before I start the immigration process, so I can send the results along with it?

Hope somebody can help me.

Thanks

Hi, isn't it a "MUST" to wait for the medical request coming from the CIC? Because the medical form will be coming from them, and they have list of assigned medical practitioners to perform medical to applicants...from this forum, this is the usual trend..im not sure if it has special cases...

Thank you for your quick respons! :)

I have been reading so many different things about it that I'm totally confused. I did find a whole list of medical practitioners in Montreal which are qualified to do this exam, and also a list of this in the Netherlands. And one the CIC website there is a form which you have to take to this doctor when you have a medical exam. So everything you need for it, you can find online already.

But I think I'll wait with making an appointment until I'm sure..Maybe others know more about it too.

And I also read on the CIC website that all sponsered spouses, common law partners etc have to send a proof of medical examination with their application, so this makes me think I have to get the medical examination done before I send all the applications.

Spousal applications, including common-law and conjugal partners MUST submit proof of their medical examination WITH their application, so yes the medical must be done before your application is submitted. Leave it as one of the last things you do.

Hi there! For spousal sponsorship applications it is best for you to do your medical exam before you submit your application, but as close as possible to actually mailing the application (since your medical results are valid for a year, it can save you from having to redo them). The varying opinions you may have read probably are from people applying through other streams - for example, if you are applying as a skilled worker you have to wait until typos get a request form during the process.

Gelukwensen!
