My wife has sponsored me for Canadian nationality now, i have received a medical letter from embassy. Before i came here in The First Clinic for medical Exam. I just want to know that i have minor hernia so, kindly suggest me that;

1) Before medical exam should i go for hernia surgery and then came for medical exam?

2) i can come with this minor hernia which will be not affecting the medical exam?

At this stage i don not want any delay or refusal in my case. if you have any other suggestion so kindly send me your feed back, your earliest and quick response will be highly appreciated at all times.

If any one have idea kindly reply and advise.

From what I know, the Canadian government wants to ensure that you do not have any highly contagious diseases such as TB or HIV/AIDS or something requiring long term care (HEP C etc), so that you are not a burden to the social security net. However, please correct me if I am wrong, even if found to have one of these illnesses you are not denied right away, but there is a procedure to follow.

I would avoid pushing back the medical exam and complicating the case, if you can wait.

The medical exam is done for two reasons: to make sure you don't have any communicable diseases that could be spread to other Canadians and to make sure you don't have an acute or chronic condition that would place a burden on the Canadian health care system or any other social services. A hernia is unlikely to be a huge issue although you may be asked to have the surgery before you immigrate. Some hernias should be dealt with sooner rather than later so there aren't any further complications so you may want to get the surgery done in your home country because it is what is best for your health.
