At what point should my American fiancé get her medical done? Should we send it in with our package or wait until we are asked for it?! Same with the FBI background check. We are waiting for it now, but should we send it in with our package or wait until we are asked for it?
With the new app, you need to wait for the medical to be requested (unless it's already been done). Once requested you need to do it within 30 days.
Since FBI takes a long time, it's okay to start obtaining it. You'll have 30 days once you get AOR to get that to them.

I'd wait until its requested...they will provide you with a form to take to the exam. you can start eyeing what clinic you want to go to and see how long wait times generally are (off of the physician's panel)...mine was able to get me in the same week I called. Generally only take up to a week for them to send the results to CIC, so the 30 days you'll have is more than enough time.

My wife and I just submitted our new forms with my medical and police record up front. We already planned on doing old forms that's why we got those done already. I don't think they're allowing new patients for up front medical anymore, unless you already have an appointment before the 31sy of January 2017. The fbi request takes 8-9 weeks (it did for me) ...so get on it now

No, you can't do your medical exam until IRCC requests it. We tried to book an upfront medical on Dec 20 but we were not able to complete the medical since the panel physician requires a request code or something. They changed the process on Dec 15th. Unfortunately, the hospital didn't realize it had changed the process until after we spent $300 flying to the hospital in Bangkok to go to our appointment that they assured us we could do... Oops!
here is the number to check status 304-625-2000 Their website still states they process in 12-14 weeks.
Here is the post that discuss wait times as well. http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/us-police-clearance-fbi-processing-times-t270222.0.html
