Does the 6-month maximum stay apply if you in Canada on a 10 year visa?
I'm here visiting my common-law partner and son.
I've been in and out a couple of times but this is the longest I've stayed (5 months).
For clarity. Are you saying I can stay for more than 6 months or not more than that?
There is no hand-written date on the last entry stamp, which was in June 2017. And I have exited and returned since then.
Also, how to I go about getting the extension? The Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada?

OK, I forgot that some airports no longer stamp upon entry, but unless others correct me, you were permitted to stay for 6 months from your most recent entry.
Apologies, just realized my last post was badly written, but yes, as scylla provided, the extension will have to be applied for.
