Marrying a Canadian citizen

Hello All, I'm on a work permit and living in Canada for the past 3 years. Now I'm marrying a girl who is a Canadian citizen. I have a few of questions regarding this and thanks in advance.

1. Do I have to apply for PR first and then citizen after? and can I stay in Canada because my work permit is expiring in 1 year?
2. we are getting married in India and do we have to register this marriage in Canada or the registered marriage certificate from my country is fine?
3. And if My Wife has to sponsor me Aprox how much CAD will i have to show?

1. You and your spouse apply for her to sponsor you as a PR - that will gve you right to stay and work in Canada. Years later you can apply to become a citizen (if you meet the requirements of course).

There is no automatic PR or citizen grants for spouses of citizens.

2. No need or even mechanism to register a foreign marriage - your foreign marriage docs will be recognized here.

3. Read the instructions. Your spouse will need to show can support you but no specific income or dollar requirements.
