Hello,

I am filing tax for 2014 and in June of 2014 I got married outside of Canada. My wife lived in Bosnia during 2014 (where we got married) while I was in Canada working and supporting her as well as she lived at home with no income, she did not work.

When doing my tax am i able to claim her as I was supporting her (sending money through Western Union and I have receipts). She landed in 2015 and now has her SIN # and permanent residence card.

I was using TurboTax and there is a part where it asks "Was her net income for 2014 zero"; when i select Yes my income refund increases; but I want to make sure I am allowed to do this given the condition that she was outside of Canada. Basically her income was whatever I sent her so should I total up the amount of money sent through WU and claim that as her income?

Any experts out there able to chip in?
