That's a question for denmark. Canada generally lets anyone get married, as long as they're physically in Canada and have ID and not currently married to others. (Small caveat that if you've been married before, you may be require to show you have a valid divorce, which is not always easy)

So far what I see on their website is valid passport but no clear answer about travel document. I think I will call the embassey then.

He is in UK he is not. UK citizen. He has leave to remain status.

Then look up the marriage requirements in the countries you can both travel to.

As far as I'm aware the marriage requirements in Denmark are quite simple (comparable to Canada actually in many respects), but for foreigners usually a passport is required. I understand there may be paperwork that requires you to get it done in advance. You'll have to ask some local firm with experience to determine whether the refugee travel document issued by Canada is accepted. (I would guess it is possible since they are accepting it as a travel document, but getting a firm answer may be difficult).

Note that if your UK resident partner does not have a passport, same issue may arise in Canada. Your refugee travel document issued by Canada should be acceptable here - but check in province of residence.

Hi, Can you give me a little bit of information about your experience? I want to do the same and really not sure where to start.

Hey. Unfortunately, my schengen visa was refused so I never travelled to Denmark for marriage. I think its quiet difficult to ger schengen visa because you need to show strong ties to your country and we are already refugees. I was denied based on my nationality (third world country) but if you still wanna try. Just make your application strong clearly showing your intention and that you will come bavk. For marriage, I was in contact with an agency. There are many online if u type marriage in denmakr alot come up. They are diff packages u can chose what u want. Basically they will apply on ur behalf. U will get marriage license in a week or so and after that u can book the wedding place and time and then fly there to have it. Hope this helps

Sorry to hear that. I went to Germany last December, but since Germany had so many bureaucracies, including residency requirements, we couldn't fulfill them, so we couldn't get married there but I have been told that Denmark is easy to get married. Have you chosen a different path to get married? Were you able to get married and get your certificate?
I appreciate your quick response. I will be grateful to know if you know a better path to get this done because I'm exactly in same position as you were.
thanks.

I went to Germany last year to gather some pictures with my fiance and have applied for the UK fiance visa now. My fiance had applied for canada visit visa but thats still in process so this was the only option for us. Now finger crossed and am I just waiting for the visa.
Where is your fiance from?

She is a student and living in Spain with a residence permit, and I have my PR with a Canadian RTD. We both are originally from AFG. I can't enter spain with my RTD without a Schengen visa that why we thought we can get married in Germany.
Now, i'm planning to apply for a schengen visa via denmark and she is also gathering document to apply for a canadian visitor visa just to have a B option. how long your fiance has been waiting for the canadian visa that could be a good reference for us as well. Also, how long did you got your final decision for your denmark visa ??

You can definitely try applying for the visa. Just make sure to research on it and submir a cover letter explaining why you wanna travel and your status in Canada and that you will return to Canada and she will return to spain.
Have you researched on getting married in Turkey? Their visa system is better. You could just state tourism and get married there.
She can apply for the Canada visa but be prepared for a long wait (maybe its faster for u) but just saying. Its been a year and 3 months since my fiance applied n been waiting for the canadaina visa :(
For the schengen, i think we waited a month and a half and got refusal although their processing time was 15 days in canada when i had applied.
May I ask how long it took for your PR? And what year? Like how long after you got your status?

Thank you for your information. So I found a marriage agency in Denmark. I talked to them this morning, and at the same time I gathered a list of documents for Danish visa, which I will apply for sometime this week. Let's see how it goes.
I came to Canada with PR status in 2022. So I haven't waited for my PR so long; it arrived two months later after our landing. However, for TRD, the waiting period was like a year almost.
