Hi

I called cic one day and asked weather they need original birth certificate. they said yes you need to send original birth certificate. I asked about marriage certificate.. they said no only photo copy is required. Now I did send normal photocopy which was not attested. The document is in english so there was no need of translation... now I heard that you have to send attested copy..if that was the case why call center agents in cic does not inform that....will cic return the application........????????? :(

Did you check the requirements on your Regional Guide?

as far as i know it's only certain CHC's that require the photocopies to be notaraized, not just attested. CIC does not ask for attested copies. I had sent just scanned copies to my consultant in Canada...

hi
I met one of my freind who got vis ion 2 and a half months and she said to only provide photocopy ....... nothing is required.

Check the region specific forms for this... the first two lines same something along the lines of (not exact wording):

Originals for all immigration forms and police certificates.
Photocopies for all the rest unless otherwise stated.

Then somewhere down the pages list marriage certificate but no mention of it being originals nor it having to be attested. Certain places like Russia require most documents to be notarized. I just bring them in as an example because I remember a thread on it and then going back and worrying ND wanted the same.
