ok, so I am sponsoring my wife in Costa Rica, outland, and i am almost finished everything, i am orginizing everything right now, I made one folder for me forms and supporting docs, and another folder for my wife in CR for her forms and supporting docs, my question is do I need 2 certified and notarized copies of our marriage certificate to put in both folders? or is one in my folder ok? thanks.

Gary

You should normally not need to send an original copy, I simply photocopied my marriage certicate they do not need the original. Check your paperwork again it should say they want a photocopy. Keep in mind that most of the time you DO NOT get the documents you send with your package back so if you sent an original you would likely never see it again.

Hi Gary,

I am sponsoring my husband who is from Costa Rica, we are going through the Guatamala office (outland app) and we have been waiting over a year now. We only sent one copy of the marriage certificate and that was enough. (I was already accepted as a sponsor and they now have his passport). Were you married in Canada or in Costa Rica? If you were married in Costa Rica then you have to have it signed, translated and certified by the canadian embassy.

Feel free to email me with any questions

Hope this helps!
