Marriage Certificate authenticated by Ministry of External Affairs in India?

Hello All,

Has anyone gone to Ministry of External Affairs for verifying their Marriage Certificate for the spousal sponsorship?

Some body in the forum said that the Marriage Certificate has to be certified by the Ministry?

Never heard about that? Is it true.

No I don't think so, Originals do not need anything to do with them except the educational documents.
Copies of Marriage certificate need to be notarized only.

BUT Indians can tell you better

I do not know the laws of India ...but here is what was required of us. ...I am Canadian and I married my Filipino wife who is a resident of Thailand. We married in Thailand. The documents we required for the marriage all had to be translated from English to Thai and legalized (stamped and signed) by Thailand Department of Foreign Affairs. After we were married we then had to take our Thai marriage certificate and marriage registration documents and have them translated into English and then those translations were verified against the originals and certified/legalized again by Thailand DFA. Then our copies of the translations to English were brought to each of our respective embassies and certified by them as well.

Do your homework and find out what is required in your country. It may take some time but will save a much larger headache in the future finding out some document required translation to English and signed by you and your spouse and certified by foreign affairs.

Take a really good look at your countries SPECIFIC instructions requirements for CIC.
I am sure some other members from your country will know more, However do your own research too.
