My common-law partner and I applied for citizenship online individually and indicated our civil status as "common-law" in our individual applications. We are planning on potentially getting married soon. What happens if we decide to marry while the application is being processed? As I understand, I will have to update IRCC through the webform, correct?
- Will this impact the individual applications and restart the counter i.e. IRCC starts reassessing the case as a married couple and thus starts processing time all over again?
- Makes no difference and application continues as is and they just acknowledge the updated life situation?
- Application is refused and requested to re-apply as a family? since online applications are reserved only for single individuals at this time?

Marriage is irrelevant for citizenship because each individual is assessed on their own merits. Very different from PR where you do need to inform them of family additions because they can be added as dependents.
