Could anyone pls tell me which countries accept Canadian certificate of identity? And can u get married abroad with a certificate of identity in countries in Europe or southeast Asian countries like Malaysia or Thailand?

You may run into a lot of problems getting married abroad without a passport. You’ll have to contact and read about the requirements of every country yourself.

Yes I m looking up, but there's not much information online regarding this. Most countries require a valid passport n I m not sure whether COI can be used as a substitute in this situation. My boyfriend does hv a PR card and driver's licensethough. Will that work? Any idea?

No he would need an RTD to travel. When it comes to registering a wedding, a country may not accept PR card or a RTD. Not all countries will allow you to enter on an RTD either. Some must wait until they are Canadian citizens with a Canadian passport to visit certain countries.

But he is not a refugee, he is just unable to get his passport back and we don't know how long it might take him to get his national passport..might take years
