Mandatory first name/ last name field while filling express entry application

While trying to apply for Express entry profile, it's found that First name and Last name are both mandatory. My husband doesn't have a last name/surname in his passport and we are stuck and unable to proceed. Could anyone please help me on how to proceed?

Most South Indians have abandoned the use of last name. Maybe one such applicant can suggest what to do or else check with an agency that deals with a lot of South Indian applicants. Just make sure it is the same as in the Passport.
