Maintain PR Status

Hi there,

I hope you guys are doing well. I have got a quick question. I am a new immigrant and have got PR card couple of weeks ago. Now I am leaving for Qatar, working for a middle east company. Its a one year project and I will be back in next year august. I need to know that do i need to come every after six months to maintain my PR status...Please advise.

dont worry ... you can stay outside of canada for upto 3 years .. so you have 5 yr PR - to renew that PR you need to show that you stayed in canada for at least 2 years within that 5 year period .. since you would be back next year - you shouldnt have any problem .. good luck ..

No, unless your residential ties to Canada is significant (such as having a home, spouse in Canada)
