My Husband, who is a canadian citizen, applied to sponsor me. (U.S. citizen). We sent our applications registered mail and tracked it. It was received in the CIC office on Sept 8, 2011. It has now been more than three months and we have not heard anything. We contacted the CIC and they CANNOT locate the file. They show that it landed. They show that we paid the fees. BUT they cannot locate the actual package. Has anyone ever heard of this? What recourse do we have? My FBI clearance has expired. The medical exams were included. And now my daughter has turned 18. Please advise. THank you.
I am in the exact same situation and I don't know what to do. I see you have posted this a long time ago. What did you do? How did your application turn out?
My application was lost in the CIC office Mississagua but fortunately ours it was found after a week. (...Canadian Post Office strike back then, in July.....)
If you have proffs that the application reached the CIC then is not post office's quilt, is CIC, but also Canada Poste could make mistakes.
Has to be an explication, it always is!
As an advice, I reallly don't know what I would do...losing an application is really something.
Sometimes I really think that those employes who are working for the state they don't realize that are "playing" with the people's life.
Bonne chance mille fois!
Hope your applications were found already!! Or it's going to be very soon!!
Good luck!!!!
Thank you so much for your answer. I really dot know what to do now, they don't tell me whether I'm supposed to resend all the documents again, and if so whether I will have to wait for the processing times all pver again of if there's a way to reach an officer as my file gets there, etc. I am really worried and desperate, I have. I idea who to complain to and I think it's utmost disrespectful of CIC to think it suffices just to tell people indefinitely (I don't know what for - if my file has been lost for three months, I don't see how they will find it now).
I'm happy it all turned out fine for you

Hi Agga,
Try sending an email to CPCM-EXTCOM@cic.gc.ca with 'Application past processing times' in the subject line. Explain your entire situation and ask them how long you need to wait. If they reply with say 15 days or a month then you will atleast have a formal communication from them. Other then this, I would suggest you to keep calling CIC on almost daily basis to get the updates.
Thanks

Sunrise9,
Thank you so much! That's what I was looking for, a channel through which I could contact them and have a more concrete answer about what is going on.
I'll keep you posted.
Cheers,
Agga
I sent it our application with Fedex, since it was during the Canada Post strike last year. The application was sizeable enough (lots of photos, etc) that the person who sent it for me recommended I split it up into two boxes: one for the photos and one for the documents. Turns out it was a mistake, because although Fedex said they correctly delivered both boxes, CPC-M contacted me and said they'd lost the box with the documents and could only find the one with the photos. I get the impression they're not very organized there and just store things willy-nilly in their warehouse. That, and apparently the two boxes were sent on different vehicles. (Lesson learned: use one box.) Anyway, I ended up playing telephone tag with a guy at the CPC-M warehouse trying to help him figure out where the other box was. I also got my MP's office on the case, and they recommended that we wait a bit to let them have the time to sort things out on their own before he called to intervene. Turns out he was right: the day I was going to call him back, I got an email from CPC-M saying they had received our application.
Another relevant detail in your case is that the guy at the warehouse—apologetic as he was—assured me that the delay wouldn't affect the processing time, and that they'd reserve a place for it in the processing queue, so that even if it took a lot of time to find the application, they'd treat it as if the delay had never happened. As well, I learned that as long as the police reports, medical reports, etc. are valid as of the date the package was sent, they'll still be accepted for the purpose of processing, so even if it were to spend a few months in the warehouse we wouldn't be penalized.
sunrise9's suggestion is spot on; you have a right to know what's going on, especially when it's past the posted processing time. Hope you get an answer soon!
Thank you so much for sharing your story, I'm glad it turned out positive for you. I was really worried to send everything again and face the processing times all over again. We're waiting for their answer, I hope it will be a positive one saying that they found it.
It's very frustrating, and the fact that all they tell us is to wait - I don't even know what for anymore - is even more tiring.
