Not strange at all. This isn't a real estate forum - so there aren't very many posts on this subject. I would recommend you look for accommodations through kijiji and craigslist. A realtor probably won't be that interested in working with you since it sounds like you're just looking for a single room (not enough money involved to make it worthwhile for them). You should assume you'll have to go the legwork yourself and find a place yourself.

Google "walk score canada". They have fantastic Android app too (not sure about ios). Best luck
