Hi All.
I have LMIA Number, Work Permit and Work Visa.
I worked for one month for a company in Canada and I was released since visa process lasted 4 months in total and when I came here cliente didn't need me anymore.

I was told I can look for another job in Canada until my visa expires in 2021.

I have 2 questions regarding this:

1. Do the new employer need to do another LMIA or only a new Work Permit linked to the new company?.
2. How long can it takes until my start in the new company?.
Thanks!.

Unless you have an Open Work Permit (which isn't likely), you will need a new LMIA and Work Permit. You can only begin working after you get both. You can apply for the work permit from within Canada once you get an approved LMIA.

Thanks a lot for your response.

Regarding this:

1. I was told I can stay in canadian territory looking for another job until my visa ends.
Is that correct?.

2. My visa states "multiple entries", can I leave Canada and come back with no issue before getting a new job?.

Thanks in advance!.

1. You can stay in Canada as long as the work permit is valid.

2. No guarantees. CBSA may decide to cancel your work permit if they find out you are not working.

Did the company did not inform you that they didn’t need you before travel? This doesn’t sound right. A company would not pay for an LMIA and go through the process and not have you work at all.
