Lonely Canadian program

Please help, my 70 year old aunt , a Canadian citizen who has lived in Canada for 20 years. Her husband died long time ago, and she doesnt have any relative, or family in Canada.
She has an adult daughter who is 40 years old, divorced . She would like to sponsor her daughter to Canada.

Can she sponsor her as a lonely Canadian program. She is currently receiving Old age security, and retirement benefits around 1800 a month. Her daughter is visiting her in Canada on a Canada visitor visa for 6 months.

Unfortunately she will not meet the income requirements to qualify as a sponsor.

So you don’t live in Canada?

She needs to meet LICO.
When you sponsor a relative to become a permanent resident of Canada, you must:

• meet set income guidelines
• agree in writing to give financial support to your relative and any other eligible relatives coming with them:
  • beginning on the date they become a permanent resident
  • for up to 20 years (depending on their age and how you’re related)

This may be difficult for the mother to do. Processing takes years. Is daughter single or married?

The daughter is divorced. She has some property back home that she can sell and bring them to Canada. He is healthy and can work in factory or gram right away . Thank you for your reply

It is the mother who is sponsoring so she must show that she meets LICO to support her daughter as well as taking on the financial responsibility for 20 years.

The 70 year old aunt? The 70 year old aunt is the one who needs to show the income. Processing times are around 3 years so she would need to start working now and make sure she meets the minimum income requirements before she submits the application to sponsor her daughter. She would then need to be prepared to work 3 years until the application is finalized.

Unfortunately this doesn't factor into sponsorship under the lonely Canadian program. If the 70 year old aunt does not meet income requirements, the daughter will need to qualify for PR on her own through an economic immigration program like Express Entry.

Unfortunately savings are not counted for LICO. Her daughter's financial independence is unfortunately irrelevant. The aunt must meet the minimum income requirements to qualify as a sponsor. Since she cannot do that, this program is not an option. The daughter will need to qualify and apply for PR on her own merits.

That is her choice of course. Unfortunately she cannot sponsor her daughter.
