I'm a Canadian citizen, single, and with no family members or relatives in Canada. I also have full time job with a steady income. I want to sponsor my 25 year old nephew who is an IT professional in my native land under the Lonely Canadian program. Can you please share your stories if you have gone through this program. So as long as you continue to be single yes you will qualify. Lonely Canadian process is longer than other family sponsorship so would be prepared for around a 2 year wait

Yes as long as you remain single and have no children until they have landed as a PR.

@canuck78 Sorry to bother you again. I'm confuse with the interpretation of what is on the IRCC website. It sounds like I cannot sponsor my 25 year old nephew under Other Relatives or Lonely Canadian program as he is not an orphan. Can you kindly please explain if my understanding is correct? You are misinterpreting. See below.

Other relative
You may sponsor one relative, related by blood or adoption, of any age, if you meet all of these conditions:

• you (the person who wants to sponsor your relative) don'thave a living relative you could sponsor instead, such as a:
  • spouse
  • common-law partner
  • conjugal partner
  • son or daughter
  • parent
  • grandparent
  • orphaned brother or sister
  • orphaned nephew or niece
  • orphaned grandchild
• you (the potential sponsor) don’t have any relatives (aunt or uncle or any of the relatives listed above), who is a:
  • Canadian citizen
  • permanent resident
  • registered Indian under the Indian Act

So, are you saying I can sponsor my nephew? An immigration consultant told I CANNOT sponsor my nephew because he is not an orphan and it does not make sense to me. That's why I need clarification.

Yes, as long as you meet all of the sponsorship conditions, you can sponsor your nephew. I would stay away from immigration consultants. Too much bad advice and lack of expertise. If you want advice, go with an immigration lawyer.
