I came from El Salvador to study computer science, I started a programming course in a college to get a high GPA and then apply to university and try to get a scholarship.
I have been 2 months in Canada and I have realized that it was a huge mistake to come here, the best scholarships have a value of $3000, while the tuition and residence can be more than $30,000 in any average university.
I'm trying to get a loan, I intend to pay it all even if the interests make me pay twice the value of the loan, but even that is impossible for an international student.
I live with my uncles right now they both are citizens and they are willing to sign as my financial guarantors, is it possible to get a loan of some type??
all I want is study computer science, which is my passion since I am 12, but Canada is making it extremely hard for me.
Have you spoken with a bank to see what's possible? It shouldn't be difficult at all to find out if obtaining a loan with a Canadian guarantor is possible.
No I havent gone to a bank yet, I have tried to find information online but all I find is bad news
International Students
International students studying on a student visa are not eligible for bank loans or government student loans in Canada. If planning to apply for landed immigrant status, students may become eligible for loans once landed status has been received.
anyone knows a bank that might grant loans to international students?
at this point I feel so disappointed that if I go to ask myself and they tell me that is not possible I will probably get extremely demotivated and ruin my perfect scoring in college.
every time I ask someone about financial matters they give me the weirdest looks as if an international student seeking financial aid was something out of this world.
Well, I have the same situation, but don't be despaired! A door closes, another door opens. Here is my recommend.
You can try to study SATs and try to score as high as you can. Then, you use the score to apply for universities in US. However, you have to score at least 2200/2800 SATs score in order to apply to financial aid (the program named need-based).
Good luck with that! That is my goal, too.
I know it is difficult and sometimes you will be demotivated. However, try this and give yourself a change
