I am looking to hire a foriegn nanny who is in Canada already currently working for another employee.
Since they cann't afford her anymore due to layoff I am planning to hire her as nanny to look aftre my 1 yr old kid.
Now the question is:
1. Do I have to immediately apply for LMO?
2. Can she work for me before LMO is approved in case i dont need a LMO now?
3. Is it like I can offer her job and signed a contract with her and she can work for me without LMO?
You have to sign a contract with her, apply for LMO then the nanny applies for WP. She can only start working for once she has her WP.

LMOs for caregivers/nannies are sent to Toronto. It's taking 12 weeks or more for the LMOs to come out. WP processing has improved. I think it's two weeks (12 days online) or 16 days paper app. as per cic.website.

How long does it take to get the LMO approved in Alberta?
Also, how long WP will take?
