Hi. The High Commission requested for an LMIA document.

The job I am applying for is LMIA Excempt but I did not realise this until after sending in my application.

My employer submitted an LMIA Excempt application on the employer protal.

My employer immediately got an offer of employment number.


As the High commission has requested an LMIA, do I still wait for the LMIA or what do I do with this offer of employment number?

How long will LMIA take in this situation?

if your job is LMIA exempt, inform your high commission of your previous error. Show also what you got from your employer, and if possible, your job's LMIA exemption code.

LMIA generally need 3-4 months, cost 1000 CAD to apply, and have no guarantee of success (plus I am doubtful if LMIA can be issued for LMIA exempt jobs). Few employers are willing to do LMIA.
