I am currently a live-in caregiver from Thailand and have applied for permanent residency for myself and two kids. I have already completed the medical checks and am waiting on final approval. I have a couple of questions that I hope someone can answer:
1. Can I go back to visit Thailand during my application process (3-4 weeks) and come back to Canada? Will that affect my application?
2. Is there a time limit to when I have to bring my kids to Canada once they receive permanent residency? Can they stay in Thailand for 1 or more years and then come over?
3. Once I receive permanent residency am I free to choose any job I wish, or do I have to stay as a live-in caregiver? Do I have to apply for an open work permit?

Yes, as long as you have a valid work permit and a TRV to return.

Their visa will only be valid for 1 year from the date of their medical exam.

Hi guys! I'm a new live-in caregiver here in BC. Just wanna know if somebody knows about this. Is it true that after 6 months of my stay here can my employer already apply me for a permanent resident? I heard this from our overseas worker welfare administration office in our country. I hope somebody can infos about this.
