Hi everybody,
I am taking the IELTS test on 22nd October and want to make sure that I gather as much information about the procedures of the test. So my question:
Is the CD for the listening test played through speaker or will everbody be given earphones/headphones to listen to the tape?
I am asking this because I was wondering if it makes a difference if I sit in the front or back. I hope somebody can help...

Everyone will be given a separate pair of Headphones to listen . and in starting u will be given a sample audio to set your headphones on desired volumes.

Do you mean that the tape will be heard over loudspeakers for everybody at the same time? So there will be no headphones for each person. What do you mean by your comment that the module will be announced by pager and not by examiner?

Yes the tape will be heard over loudspeakers.

Thank you so much for your reply. I am a bit worried that the quality of the sound might be worse through loudspeakers but I guess there is nothing I can do about that. :
In your experience, did it matter if you sat in the front or the back?

I took the test 3 months ago. Everybody was sitting in the room and there were many speakers around the room so you can listen to it very clearly

Be sure that the sound quality is very good in IELTS Test and it will test by examiners and for this reason they will ask you did you heard examiner voice? All the seats reserved before I think it possible for changing seat but it depended conditions of place which Test held.

Thank you for this information. That makes me worry less.
My exam did not have headphones. Only the one stereo. There were no additional speakers either. The tape was loud enough, however, I sat in the front and found it too loud. It was not a perfect set-up, but nothing to really stress about.
I am so scare about listening............
